
Meet Luke Pyles
Retired UPS Airline Pilot
Biography
Luke brings more than three decades of distinguished experience in the aviation industry, including service as an airline pilot with UPS Airlines from 2000 to 2024, following earlier roles with regional feeder airlines beginning in 1989. He retired as a Boeing 747 Captain.
His professional career is marked by extensive leadership and service within aviation labor and industry organizations. He served for many years as a Committee Chairman for the Independent Pilots Association, where he provided oversight for initiatives related to scope of work, government affairs, family awareness, international liaison activities, and information technology. He also served as Director of Communications for the Association. His leadership experience further includes service as Chairman of the Skyway Airlines Master Executive Council for the Airline Pilots Association, as well as active involvement with the International Transportation Workers Federation and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
In addition to his aviation career, he has demonstrated a long‑standing commitment to civic and community engagement serving nine years as President of the Stonebridge Farms Homeowners Association in Loveland, Ohio, and selected to serve as Secretary and Treasurer of the Estero Forever Foundation in Estero, Florida.
Following his retirement from commercial aviation, he established a transportation company serving both business and consumer clients in Southwest Florida, gaining practical insight into the region’s economic development and community needs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Illinois and maintains an Airline Transport Pilot rating with multiple additional aviation ratings. His personal interests include aviation, sailing, international travel, family activities, and public service.
